DEMO: 3D WALKTHROUGH

Hemp House

Hemp is making a major comeback around the world, and hemp-based building materials are now gaining popularity. Advantages and popularity are related to the ability to create sustainable, green and healthy buildings. While the average home lasts 80 years, and ends up in our landfills, hemp houses can last 300 to 800 years, and can be recycled back into the earth. Hemp buildings are cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter, with minimal use of air conditioning or heating. Moreover, these houses are not only energy-efficient, but also healthy: no harmful chemicals are trapped inside.

The first house in the U.S. made primary of hemp was built in 2010. Using a product known as Hemcrete – a mix of industrial hemp, hydraulic lime and water – a team of 40 volunteers, sub-contractors and designers constructed a hemp house in Asheville, North Carolina. The house is absolutely eco-friendly, moreover it is fireproof, waterproof, mold-proof, insect-proof, and gets an “A” for indoor air quality.
Using hemp as a building material is not at all new. Its usage in buildings dates back millennia in Asia and the Middle East where the Cannabis plant originates from. The biggest challenges of using hemp as a building material are regulation, supply and cost – almost all over the world.

The first hemp house in Hungary is just under construction (2017 spring) in Domaszék, near Szeged, following the architectural design of Attila Vér, Bautender Ziegel Ltd. Though the house is still built, thanks to 3D computer modelling and animation, you can have a virtual tour and you can have a look at the furnished interior of the house.
When you click on "Start" button, data are downloaded (this will take a while, depending on your internet connection). You will have an automated animation (aka video) that you can pause and resume. After that automated part you can wander around and in the interior of the house, using "W-A-S-D" buttons and your mouse as controls. Enjoy!
